It's done -- my first finished sweater. Ever. Here it is, my Vine Yoke Cardi, photographed at my LYS.
I am so thrilled to have finished something, much less a sweater. However, the extra repeats I did in the cabling up top added more poufiness to it than I wanted, so it's a little large around there. Which sucks, but you know what? I don't care, I'm done!
The sweater was speeding along nicely and if I had had more concentrated free time, it would have been done about 2 weeks ago. So it's a great speedy knit, and a really clearly written pattern (although there are a few number errors that are easy to get past).
I just bought the buttons for it today at the LYS. Sorry, no picture. I hope they're not too heavy, since they're pretty big. And metal. But so pretty and shiny ...
It's amazing that for a size 38 I only used 840 yards of Malabrigo -- 4 skeins. And I do mean 4 skeins -- I didn't want to wind up another skein just so I would have yarn to finish the dang thing, so I frogged my swatch and used that.
If I were going to knit this again, I'd probably not have gone up to size 10 needle like I had to get gauge, because this thing is going to stretch.
Up next: the gorgeous, gorgeous Mondo Cable Cardi by Bonne Marie Burns. I'm waiting for my Dream in Color Classy in Cloud Jungle to arrive so I can start swatching. I'm so focused on sweaters right now that I'm wondering if I should try doing NaKniSweMoDo for next year?
