Oh Iceland

Recently Ysolda Teague wrote about her experience as the guest tutor for a Knitting Iceland tour. What an amazing time it looks like she had -- from learning traditional Icelandic knitting techniques to helping sort the sheep that bring us that lovely Lopi yarn to shopping for yarn at the grocery store, and Ysolda also taught a workshop! And all of this happening in a rugged and incredibly beautiful landscape -- it sounds like the perfect knitting trip to me. I'll have to look into the next tour!

Ysolda also mentions some other bloggers from the Fancy Tiger yarn shop in Denver who do a 6-part series on the tour. Again, amazing.

A week ago, a bit of Iceland came to the desert -- Jonsi, lead singer of Icelandic supergroup Sigur Ros, brought his tour to town, and it was a fabulous show. I picked up his DVD 'Go Quiet,' which is a movie of him performing the songs from his solo album 'Go.' The movie tells the story of Jonsi the day after throwing a New Year's Eve party, padding around his trashed house in some adorable slippers:

The front and sides of the heel definitely look knit, but the back of the heel looks crochet to me. What do you think?

Anyway, check out this timelapse video of a Jonsi show -- it's quite the visual experience.

I love that other people also dissect movies and such for the knitwear.

Have you seen "Edge of Love" (with Keira Knightley) yet? I just watched it on Netflix instant streaming, and there were SO MANY gorgeous knitted pieces. You need to watch it if only for that.
